ShipDish ("we", "us", or "our") is an online directory that connects people looking for homemade food with home cooks across India. We operate the website at shipdish.in (the "Platform").

From Home Cooks (when you list yourself):

• Full name
• City, state, and area/neighbourhood
• WhatsApp phone number
• Cuisine types and price range
• A short bio about your cooking
• A photo of yourself or your food (optional)

From Visitors (when you browse the directory):

• Approximate location (if you grant browser permission) — used only to pre-fill the city filter and never stored on our servers
• Basic usage data such as pages visited and filters used (collected anonymously via analytics)

Automatically collected:

• IP address and browser type (for security and analytics)
• Device and operating system information
• Referring URL and pages visited

We use the information collected for the following purposes:

• To operate the directory — Cook listings (name, location, cuisines, bio, photo) are displayed publicly on the Platform so that people can find and contact home cooks.
• To verify listings — We manually review all cook submissions before they go live. We may contact you on your WhatsApp number to verify your listing.
• To improve the Platform — Anonymous usage data helps us understand how people use ShipDish and improve the experience.
• To ensure security — IP addresses and device data help us detect and prevent spam or abuse.
• To communicate with you — We may contact you about your listing, updates to this policy, or important platform changes.

When you submit a cook listing and it is approved, the following information becomes publicly visible on the Platform:

• Your name
• Your city, state, and area
• Your WhatsApp number (used to generate a WhatsApp contact link)
• Your cuisines, price range, bio, and photo

By submitting a listing, you explicitly consent to this information being displayed publicly. If you wish to remove or update your listing, see Section 7.

Your data is stored securely on Supabase, a cloud database provider with servers located outside India. By using ShipDish, you consent to your data being transferred to and stored on these servers.

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no internet transmission is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Photos uploaded to the Platform are stored in Supabase Storage and served publicly via a CDN.

We retain your personal data for as long as your listing is active on the Platform. Specifically:

• Cook listing data is retained until you request deletion or your listing is removed
• WhatsApp click analytics are retained for up to 12 months
• Server logs are retained for up to 90 days

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the following rights:

• Right to access — You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Right to correction — You may request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
• Right to erasure — You may request that we delete your listing and personal data from our Platform.
• Right to withdraw consent — You may withdraw your consent at any time by requesting removal of your listing.
• Right to grievance redressal — You may raise a complaint with us.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at ishwaq@shipdish.in. We will respond within 30 days.

We use the following third-party services which may process your data:

• Supabase — Database and file storage. Privacy Policy
• OpenStreetMap Nominatim — Used to reverse geocode your location if you grant permission. No personal data is stored by us from this process. Privacy Policy
• WhatsApp — We generate WhatsApp links so users can contact cooks directly. We do not control WhatsApp's data practices. Privacy Policy

ShipDish is not directed at children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted personal data to us, please contact us at ishwaq@shipdish.in and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
